Saint Vincent to offer Carlow University Nursing BSN
Saint Vincent College and Carlow University are instituting a collaborative plan to offer the Carlow University four-year, bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN) program on-site at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2019.
Carlow, located in Pittsburgh, will be responsible for the nursing curriculum and Saint Vincent will offer the non-nursing courses that satisfy the core curriculum.
Qualified prospective students will be invited to apply for enrollment in fall 2019 as Saint Vincent students on campus for the first two years. While living and studying at Saint Vincent their last two years, students will be Carlow students, taught by Carlow nursing faculty, and will be awarded their BSN degree by Carlow.
Nursing students will use Saint Vincent College’s Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion and a new simulation laboratory that will be added to support the program, according to Dr. Stephen Jodis, dean of the Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing.
The program will also take advantage of the partnership between Excela Health and Saint Vincent. “Together, we have offered a Master of Science in Health Science – Nurse Anesthesia since 2006 and a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice since 2013,” Norman added.
