University of San Diego Nursing Simulation Center Earns International Accreditation
The Dickinson Nursing Simulation Center at the University of San Diego (USD) received national and international accreditation, one of only 106 centers in the world to do so.
The Dickinson Center at USD’s Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, Beyster Institute for Nursing Research, was accredited by the International Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning and by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare for Assessment.
This recognition “validates the excellence of our overall simulation practices, programs and methodology,” said Dr. Cheryl Butera, the Dickinson Center’s director. Of the 600 international simulation centers registered with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, only 106 were internationally accredited as of November 2017.
The benefits of accreditation include improving healthcare education by identifying best practices, strengthening patient safety, and providing a competitive edge for grant funding.
